The first Hybrid Vigor Journal, "Risk as Continuum: A Redefinition of Risk for Governing the Post-Genome World," was one of the June selections of Global Business Network's Book Club.
Described in the June Book Club Newsletter as brilliant and unconventional, "Risk as Continuum" provides "a deeper look at what happens when information age technologies meet politics and policies that are out of date, polarized, and largely symbolic" and "attempts to expose us all to the slow-moving and mostly invisible risks created by certain kinds of scientific breakthroughs."
'Risk as Continuum' is available on the Hybrid Vigor Institute's research website, hybridvigor.net.
'Risk as Continuum' was researched and written by the Hybrid Vigor Institute's founder and executive director, Denise Caruso. Before founding the Institute in 2000, she was a technology industry journalist, analyst and commentator. Most recently, from 1995 to 2000, she was the Technology columnist for the New York Times.
Global Business Network is a worldwide membership organization and consultancy that pioneered strategic scenario thinking and planning. The GBN Book Club, which founding editor Stewart Brand calls "intellectual tools for the future," is sent monthly to GBN Network members to present "significant ideas, research, and debates" across disciplines, cultures, and media that are intended to "surprise, provoke, and inform."
